Whiplash injury compensation calculator

* Minor Neck Injuries: £875 – £5,150 Soft-tissue injuries which can be fully healed within 1-2 years fall under this compensation bracket. The recovery period is the prime factor to be considered when deciding upon compensation.

* Moderate Neck Injuries: £5,150 – £9,000 This bracket is suitable for injuries which grow worse over time or which cause an existing condition to recur. If full function can be restored within a few years with pain being reduced to ‘nuisance’ levels, this is the appropriate level of compensation. Minor whiplash injuries also fall here.

£9,000 – £16,400 This level of compensation is appropriate for whiplash and similar wrenching-type injuries. Reduction in movement, stiffness, and serious pain are all common symptoms. Surgery may be required to resolve these types of injuries.

* Severe Neck Injuries: 6,400 – £21,600 This compensation bracket is for injuries which cause immediate and severe symptoms, e.g. fractures. Treatment for such injuries requires spinal fusion, and sufferers will experience severely impaired function.

Approximately £36,000 This level of compensation is typical for severe soft tissue and/or tendon damage. Courts will consider the extent of symptoms and the sufferer’s medical prognosis; this level is appropriate for injuries in which disability will be significant and permanent.

£43,000 – £86,000 These are severe, disability-causing injuries which fall short of those described below.

Approximately £97,500 This level of compensation is awarded in cases where the neck remains immobile after years. Complications include paraplegia and incurable headaches.
