BULGARIAN TEACHERS RETURN TO WORK BUT DISAPPOINTED

At the beginning of September 97% of all schools in Bulgaria were affected by a Teachers Strike.

A series of massive demonstrations took place in SOFIA the capital and were supported in many other towns.

This very stressful situation had been as a result of the Bulgarian Governments failure to recognise the status of the teaching profession in line with other European colleagues. Teachers are still paid very low salaries in Bulgaria and in some instances teachers take aditional part time jobs in order to survive.
